MEET THE TEAM

Greetings ASD Community, 

I feel privileged to be ASD's Director of Student Support Services and to provide leadership to a team of highly qualified Student Support Services educators inclusive of the Educational Psychologist, Counselors, EAL/Reading Specialists, and Learning Support Teachers. This role also carries the responsibility of acting as ASD's Child Protection Officer with oversight of all matters relating to child protection and safeguarding.  

I am originally from Canada but grew up as a Third Culture Kid in Dubai, UAE.  I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Calgary and my graduate degree in Counseling Psychology at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I am a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Alberta, but have spent my entire career working in international schools in UAE, Indonesia, China, and Saudi Arabia. 

I firmly believe in the words of the proverb that "It takes a village to raise a child."  I am honored to be part of ASD's village and our mission to support the intellectual and personal of our students, inspiring them and empowering them to be positive, active global citizens.

Hello, ASD Community!

I’m excited to join ASD and the Student Support Services team as the new Educational Psychologist. I recently moved to Doha with my wife and youngest son, who is the youngest of our four boys. Originally from Portugal, I’m bilingual in Portuguese and English and have lived in diverse places, including 23 years in the United States (East and West Coast) and two years in the Caribbean.

With over 15 years of experience in school psychology and additional years in other school-related roles, I hold an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from Seattle University, as well as a Master of Arts in Media Psychology. Additionally, I have completed extensive graduate coursework in school counseling and clinical psychology. My background has given me a unique perspective on the intersection of psychology, education, and media, and I’m eager to bring these insights to ASD. 

I look forward to supporting students and their families, contributing to ASD’s mission of nurturing each learner’s unique academic and personal identity. I am committed to fostering skills like communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, and to supporting our shared values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and kindness. I am honored to be part of a community that empowers learners to discover their passions, develop their talents, and positively impact our world.
